Also known as Ksheeramam, it is situated in West Godavari District. It is about 21 kms from Bhimavaram and 10 kms from Narsapur. It is the abode of Ksheera Ramalingeswara Swamy Temple, which is one of the five Pancharama shrines in Andhra Pradesh.
Legend has it that Upamanyu, the son of Kaushika muni, requested Lord Shiva to grant him the adequate quantity of milk for the performance of his daily rituals. Lord Shiva made the Ksheera Pushkarini tank to overflow with milk from the mythical Ksheera Saagaram (the milky ocean). The temple
was built during the 10th and 11th centuries by the Chalukyas. It reflects the Chalukya architectural style and has a 9- storied gopuram. The Shivalingam in the sanctum is made of white marble and is called as Ramalingeswara Swamy or Ksheeraraameswaraswamy.A visit to this place is incomplete without a trip to Natta Rameshwaram temple, about 20 km from Palakollu. This temple’s Lingam is made of shells and conches.
